Radical Reading Room: Monstrous Anger of the Guns
Monstrous Anger of the Guns lays bare the dark and deceitful world of the global arms trade, which, often funded in our name, is a business that counts its profits in billions and its losses in human lives. Leading activists and campaigners connect the dots, showing how notions of citizenship, democracy and trust in governments are misguided, and how we can fight back by building mass movements, using direct action and legal justice to end the flow of weapons and the environmental and human devastation they bring.
Radical Reading Room: Enough
29th January 6.30-8pm
Left Bank Leeds
The story is all too familiar. The global economy generates immense fortunes for a super-rich elite. Yet at the same time pay stagnates for ordinary workers, food banks proliferate and public services collapse around us.
In Enough, Luke Hildyard argues that far from being the hard-working and productive entrepreneurs that they claim to be, the super-rich are an extractive, parasitic force sucking up a vastly disproportionate share of society's resources – making the rest of us all poorer as a result.

Enter the Mulberry Tree and Fly Free zine workshop
Left Bank Leeds
Thought Bubble Comic Festival in partnership with the Lakes International Comic Art Festival and the British Council are hosting an original installation at Left Bank which focuses on the work of twelve Palestinian comic artists.
"Enter the Mulberry Tree and Fly Free" invites visitors to witness bold strokes of defiance and gentle whispers of hope.
As part of the Left Bank Creative Resistance session this week, we’re inviting you to the "Enter the Mulberry Tree and Fly Free" exhibition launch to explore the work and watch the artist videos. Sarah will then facilitate a doodle discussion which explores the themes of ‘Hope’ and ‘Defiance’, ‘Art as resistance’ and the question, ‘How is art helping Palestine to tell its own intimate story through the narratives of its people?’
Using the notes, quotes, thoughts and doodles from our discussion you’ll create your own piece of art in response to the exhibition. You’ll have access to a range of art supplies and collage materials as well as zine and comic templates, printouts and print stencils to help you get your thoughts onto the page whatever your prior artistic skills and abilities.

Battle Of Holbeck Moor
Holdbeck Moor, LS11 7BQ
In 1936 fascists led by Oswald Mosely descended on Holbeck to spread their hate. They were met by 30,000 anti-fascists who repeatedly sang The Red Flag to drown out their speeches. The fascists retreated under a hail of stones, one hitting Mosley himself.
In September the battle is being commemorated with a long awaited Civic Trust Blue Plaque. This comes at a time when we’ve seen a spate of far right attacks across the country. And just like the anti-racists on Holbeck Moor, and Cable street and up and down the country in the 1930s, in 2024 the fascists were outnumbered and sent packing once again. A reminder that the threat is ever present but that there are many many more of us than them.
